Mission Statement:
Oceanside Hive is a local community group dedicated to the study, science, and art of raising healthy and productive honeybee colonies. We willingly share knowledge through education, discussion, experiences and hands on practical training. We value our priceless environment and promote habitat suitable to native pollinators and honeybees alike.
A talented Collective committed to best practice beekeeping with an awareness of local and global beekeeping issues and furthering of the Collective’s goals.
2. A safe, friendly, fun, welcoming and non-judgemental place to learn best beekeeping practices. All are welcome to attend our meetings; you don’t need bee experience.
3. As opportunity presents, Freeze Killed Brood (FKB) testing for members with liquid N 2 protocols. We may offer UBO (Unhealthy Brood Odour) testing as well. Our goal is to seek out the best of local stocks for future outcrossing.
4. Bulk buys on pollinator seeds, and Varroa treatment products if they become available.
5. Workshops and field trips on beekeeping.
6. Collective members with valid membership cards can enjoy a 10% discount at all Buckerfields locations on all regular priced beekeeping supplies. Bee nucleus colonies are exempt from this offer.
7. Regular meetings occurring at least 9 times per year to cover timely seasonal topics.
8. Outstanding qualified guest speakers with local and global experience.
9. Being part of a community, driven by the active engagement and support of fellow members.
10. Access to members-only section on the club web site, including pollinator growing tips, hive management schedule, chat, etc. ( Under Construction)
